WaMH in PC Conference 2013: 'The Art and Science of Mindfulness'

This year's WaMH in PC ‘Really Useful Conference’ will be held at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday 9 October looking at innovative approaches in primary care mental health.

You can download the full agenda on the following link - 2013 Conference Agenda - and the afternoon session will be split up into a series of workshops including the following session on 'mindfulness':

Workshop: 'The art and science of Mindfulness(an introduction to use in clinical practice)'
Speaker: Martin J Smith Phd: Psychotherapist and Trainer ITC Consultancy

Mindfulness has grown in popularity and is now accepted as a valid and powerful tool in therapeutic treatments with a strong evidence base.

Drawn from eastern philosophies it has been shown to be acceptable to a very wide range of clientele.

This session will highlight a range of techniques and ideas from mindfulness practice to introduce established mental health practitioners to utilise these key principles and techniques in a clinical setting.

Key subject areas for this workshop include:

  • Understanding the key principles of mindfulness
  • Understanding the context of mindfulness practice in the mental health setting
  • Highlighting simple and effective mindfulness exercises for use in a clinical setting as an introduction

The workshop will also provide an opportunity for delegates to try at least one 'mindfulness' exercise and take away another for use with clients and patients.

Run in conjunction with primhe (Primary Care Mental Health and Education), our conference is focussed on bringing mental health professionals and organisations together in a collaborative setting.

Delegate fees are £125 per person for the event with free CPR training available on a first-come-first-served basis. To book your place please download and fill in our Registration Form.

Fees are payable by cheque to "RCGP Wales" or by invoice upon request with further details available from our Project Manager Lesley Hills via email at lhills@rcgp.org.uk or on 029 2050 4516
